The UPSL spring season is starting locally this coming Sunday, March 16th with a 4:30 PM match at Santa Maria HS stadium.  The Central Coast Surf will have 5 home games, the last home game scheduled for Saturday, May 31st.

There are a limited number of UPSL  home  games, so priority will be given to referees who are Regional Referees and need a maintenance USSF Regional Referee Assessment, then to referees who are seeking to become a Regional Referee and need an Upgrade Assessment.  Beside Santa Maria, the nearest games which involve UPSL matches are in Santa Barbara, or along the Highway 101 corridor between Oxnard-Ventura and the Sepulveda Basin where Hwy 101 and I-405 intersect.

If you are interested in refereeing this level of play, please provide Derek Wink and me the following info:
Express your interest in refereeing at this level of play
Do you need a maintenance assessment to maintain your current Regional Referee Certification?
Do you want a Regional Referee Assessment to see if you want to upgrade to a Regional Referee?

Finally, a virtual meeting may be scheduled for all of the referees in the Southern California area either later this week or next week with a UPSL commissioner and the lead assignor for the UPSL for our area.  You will be expected to attend this meeting.   Either Derek or I will let you know when we hear of a date and time.
Either attached or below are URLs (copy and paste) are documents which you may find helpful with your current certification level, or what is expected in the UPSL.  Most of these documents are on the Arbiter under Lists, then Forms or are attached.

For your information, the WCSA (College Club) spring season started locally for the Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara teams Women’s teams on February 9th, and for the men’s teams on February 15th. Their last games locally for the Women was March 8th, and for the Men it will be this coming weekend, March 15th.  There are a scattering of games in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas until April 5th. The league will start up in September, and the local teams usually host their first home games in early to mid-October.  Marco Vargas is the GGSRA (Golden Gate Sports Referee Association out of San Francisco) referee assignor for the WCSA matches at Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara.  Many of you have been assigned these matches and are familiar with their process.
